Dear Member

We have an important club EGM and meeting next Tuesday (12th March). In my last email and letter I probably wasn't clear enough about what we will cover. There will be presentations about the planned new Rowing Club clubhouse and Watersports Hub, the Sport England grant and a vote on whether to proceed with this plan. This is therefore a critical meeting and I urge you all to attend.

* Peter Hunt will be presenting to you the building plans and the great opportunity we now have to build a new club for the future
* I will be presenting an outline of our obligations under the Sport England grant agreement with which we have been presented.
* Vince Wood will talk to you about the finances of the club and the project.
* Sally Reay will cover the plans for keeping the club operational while we are off site
* John Yeatman will explain the relationships with the other clubs, the funding required and the current fundraising plan

There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions, present your views and comments and a vote on whether to proceed with this project or not. Because of this it is extremely important that all members attend if they are able. This is additional to the business already notified to you for this EGM which was covered in my last letter which seeks to bring the new club and its constitution into being.

It has been a huge effort on behalf of the committee to get us to where we are now, with the land secured, a new lease agreed under the bridge, a large new building designed, planning permission approved, fundraising programmes raising material sums and so on. The committee strongly believes and recommends that the new club and Watersports Hub will present us with huge opportunities to grow and to sustain the club for the future. It has been a long and continuous process but there is still more work to do and we are well equipped to do it.

We are now at the point where major commitments have to be made - both to Sport England and the funding of the detailed design. Thereafter we shall be preparing a comprehensive tendering process.

Therefore now is the time for the membership to confirm whether we should proceed with this exciting project.

We will use usual club voting rules and eligibility criteria which is that all fully paid up members or honorary members over 18 years of age with will be entitled to vote. There will be no proxy voting on this occasion.

It is the unanimous recommendation of your Committee that you support this resolution to proceed with the new building and secure the future of our club.

I urge all members to attend the meeting which will commence at 8pm on Tuesday 12th March at the Royal British Legion, Station Approach, Marlow.

Please discus this proposition with your fellow members and encourage them to attend and to vote at the meeting.

Yours sincerely
Ed Phillips
Club Secretary
