A major fire broke out at the club at around 4am on Wednesday 3rd August. The fire brigade were called at 4.15 and 55 firefighters with 8 appliances attended. There is extensive damage to the club, particularly the old section. However, there was much to be salvaged. The club will survive this, and a plan for getting back on the water and rebuilding will follow as soon as we can. The club was shut for rowing until Friday 5th August.  Photos in our gallery (click photo above) and by Charlie Curtis

Our thanks to those who have offered support - we will respond to you all shortly. In the interim, please do Contact Us.

We have received a text message purportedly from Little Marlow Sewage Works: "We have regrettably had another pollution incident at LMSTW today (12th May). We are sorry for the mess caused and ask river users to take extra care." This will only affect the river below Marlow Lock, but please be aware.

SAD NEWS

We were very sorry to hear of the death of Tricia Clarke.  Tricia was a long time supporter of MRC and will be familiar to those attending regattas, as she often helped in registration accompanied by her little dog.  She was a lovely lady and will be sadly missed.  Our condolences go to her family.

joomplu:1720Marlow is twinned with Marly Le Roi, and that association is now 40 years old. There was a celebration in Marly recently, and one of the presents from Marlow to Marly was a pair of wooden oars from the club (courtesy of Laurie Tilbury). You can see a report of the event (from Along The Thames) and a certicate and picture of the presentation on the left.

Snow at the clubSome pictures of the snow in the gallery - only two weeks since we were off the river because of flooding.

If you are rowing below Marlow Lock, particular care with hygine and boat-washing is recommended because Thames Water have been dumping raw sewage in the river...

We are very sad to announce the deaths at the beginning of December of two long serving members of Marlow Rowing Club.  Graham Warner and Mike Williams both passed away earlier this week following long illnesses.  Graham and Mike were well known to our members, and they will be sadly missed.  Our thoughts are with their families.
