We are sorry to report that Michael Hogan, a member of Improvers Squad, passed away on 2nd July having been taken ill the previous evening just a few hours after stroking a 4x-.

Michael came late to rowing enrolling for a Learn To Row course in early 2015 aged 70. On completing the course Michael joined the Improvers Group where he further developed his sculling skills. Michael’s enthusiasm for rowing was immediately apparent as he quickly became the squad’s top attender for both water outings and gym sessions. Michael also coordinated and competed with the Marlow Imps in the Thames Valley Explore League events. Always keen to progress, Michael had this year turned his attentions to mastering the 1x and was well on his way to achieving his bronze sculling proficiency award.

Michael is fondly remembered by his colleagues for his friendship, dedication and enthusiasm.

Our thoughts and condolences go his wife Annette and the family.
