That was followed by Charles Johnston (Sport England) and then Sir Steve Redgrave responded on behalf of the club.

Present were representatives of local councils, Marlow Regatta, Marlow Town Regatta and Festival, British Rowing, Henley Open Water Swimming Club, Longridge Canoe Club, High Wycome Tri club and Marlow Canoe Club. There was also a selection of Marlow Rowing medalists and coaches:

L to R: Naomi Riches, Katherine Grainger, Mike Spracklen, Sir Steve Redgrave, Lady Ann Redgrave, Sarah Winckless. 12 Olympic medals (Katherine, Steve, Ann & Sarah), 2 Paralympic medals (Naomi), and coach to many Olympic medallist (Mike).
More photos will be put up in the Gallery soon.
The grant of £1million is from the Iconic Fund at Sport England, part of the Lottery's £150m "Legacy" fund for promoting future sports. MRC has a strong history of junior and para-rowing which will continue and in the case of para-rowing, will expand.
