Henley Results

The club had more crews racing at Womens Henley, Henley Royal and Masters Henley than ever before.

Our entries for Womens Henley comprised three crews, Senior Lightweight 2x, Senior 4+ and Senior 4x.  Congratulations to Clare and Dawn for making the final in the 2x, and commiserations for just missing out on the win. Our Senior 4+ progressed through to the semi finals after qualifying strongly and beating Agecroft, but lost out to the eventual event winners.  The 4x was a joint junior/senior crew who had the bad luck to break a blade during their race while leading and lost out to Guildford who bizarrely went on to win the event after all of their opponents suffered similar misfortunes.

Henley Royal saw two Marlow boats and a Marlow/Burway composite crew pre-qualify and they were joined by the Fawley B crew who, with 15 and 16 year olds on board, came through the qualifying event.  The Thames Cup crew were drawn against the selected Potomac entry and although they lead for the early part of the race, they were eventually beaten by the experience and power of the Americans.  The Prince of Wales composite quad progressed through to Friday before losing to Leander, eventual winners.  The young Fawley B crew put in a fantastic performance to beat York on Wednesday, going out to Borlase next day.  The Fawley A crew, who were silver medallists at Nat Schools, fully justified their selected status by knocking out Windsor Boys C, Westminster and Prince Alfred College (Australia) before losing to Borlase in a nailbiting final.  An outstanding performance, and we are extremely proud of them all.

Success at National Schools

Our junior crews put in an excellent weekend of racing at the National Schools Regatta, returning with no fewer than three gold and five silver medals.  Club captain Sally Reay said 'This was a great performance from the club's junior section.  I am incredibly proud of all the competitors who put their hearts into racing and really deserved their medals.'

For the record, our medal winning performances came from :
